With only her guitar under her Katja Werker began her musical career through the clubs of the Germany and soon became folk music's insider alternative of the 90s. After attaining several awards in newcomer and band competitions as well as journeying to Real World Studios (Peter Gabriel), Werker home-recorded her first album in 1998, "What the Bird Said", and pressed 500 copies.
